Ramabai Memorial School is located in the remote village of Ghatiyali, Jharkhand, India.  There are currently 65 children enrolled and four teachers. The school offers education from preschool until 6th grade. Most of the Children attending come from Hindu families, but at this school they don’t just learn about academics, but the God of the Bible as well.

This school provides affordable education for the outcast children from the surrounding villages. It only costs the family one dollar a month to attend. If it was not for this school many of them would never be educated. There are many children still waiting to join the school, but more resources are needed.

The Long-Term Vision for this school and land is for it to be used as a mighty tool to reach the surrounding villages, not only by meeting their spiritual needs but their practical needs as well.  Many of the kids who go to the school are without parents and do not receive proper care at home. For many of them the generous lunch they get at the school is the only meal they will eat all day. For this reason, it has been the desire of Shampa and her family for generations to build a home for these needy children and widows. Widows in India experience extreme need and rejection from their community, and for that reason they will be part of whom we serve as well. To fulfill this vision more land is needed, upon which the children’s home will be built. The cost of the plots needed for this are around $200,000. The building of the home itself will be an additional $200,000. There is also the desire to build a clinic on the land to serve the outlying community since the nearest hospital is hours away.

We have partnered with Shampa and her ministry to help see these dreams become a reality.  We honor her and her family as they have poured out their time and resources into these beautiful children. God has united our hearts with theirs and together we will watch to see how God moves on this land and the villagers around it.
